Privacy policy
Last updated October 29, 2026
- We collect what you give us (your account, posts, photos and clips) and what's needed to run the app.
- No ads. We don't sell or share your information for advertising, and there are no third-party trackers.
- Your feed is ranked only by the sliders you set, not by a profile we build about you.
- You can delete your account, and everything you posted, from Settings at any time.
Who we are
Beat is run by Jose Veras, an individual based in the United States ("we", "us"). Questions or requests about your information: joseveras22@gmail.com.
What we collect
What you give us
- Account: your email address, password (stored only as a secure hash by our login provider), name, handle and birthday.
- Birthday: used only to check you're old enough and to decide which content rules apply to you. It's never shown to anyone, including on your profile.
- Profile: your photo, bio line and how you arranged your profile map.
- What you make and share: posts, notes, Shorts, photos, video clips, comments, "useful" votes, projects and their progress, circles you create or join, and who you invite to a live.
- Lives: your camera and microphone are streamed to viewers while you're live. We don't record lives, and live chat isn't saved after the live ends.
- Safety: reports you send (with any note you add) and people you block.
- Settings: your feed sliders, time cap, nudge and alert choices, and Day/Night look.
- Messages to us: anything you send to joseveras22@gmail.com.
What we collect automatically
- Notifications: if you turn on notifications, your browser gives us a push address and keys, and we save your time zone so nudges arrive at the right hour.
- Time cap: how many minutes you've scrolled the feed in the current 2-hour window, so the cap works.
- Activity needed for the app: when you post, go live, and when you last opened a nudge.
- Technical logs: our hosting provider keeps short-lived request logs (such as IP address, browser type and time) to keep the service running and secure.
We don't collect your contacts, precise location or anything from other apps, and we don't use analytics or advertising trackers.
Cookies and local storage
We use a few cookies and browser storage items, all needed for the app itself: your login session, your Day/Night choice, and a note that you opened an invite link so you land in the right circle after signing up. No advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
- To run Beat: show your posts to the circles you chose, build your feed from your sliders, host lives, and send the nudges and alerts you turned on.
- To keep people safe: check posts automatically before they're shared, review reports, remove content that breaks the rules, and enforce blocks.
- To keep the service secure and working, and to fix problems.
- To reply to you and send important account emails (like confirming your email address).
- When the law requires it.
We don't use your content to train AI models, and we don't sell your information.
Who can see what
- Private circles: only that circle's members see what you post there.
- Public circles and public lives: anyone signed in to Beat can see them.
- Your profile: your name, handle, photo and bio are visible to signed-in Beat users. Your public profile shows only what's in your public circles.
- Your photo is stored at a public web address so it can show next to your posts.
- Reports are seen only by Beat admins. The person you report isn't told who reported them.
Services that help run Beat
We share information with these providers only so they can run parts of Beat for us. They aren't allowed to use it for their own purposes.
- Supabase: database, login and file storage (your account, posts, photos and clips).
- Vercel: hosting for the app and its request logs.
- LiveKit: streams live video, audio and live chat in real time.
- Stripe: processes tips and pays creators. When you tip, your card details go straight to Stripe, never to Beat. When you set up payouts, Stripe collects your ID, address and bank details to verify you and pay you. Beat stores only your Stripe account ID and the tips you sent or got.
- OpenAI: checks the text, photos and video stills you post for content that breaks our rules, before they're shared. It doesn't use them to train its models.
- Your browser's push service (for example Google, Samsung, Mozilla or Apple): delivers notifications you turned on.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a sale or transfer of Beat (we'd tell you first).
How long we keep it
- Your content stays until you delete it or your account.
- When you delete your account, your profile, posts, photos, clips, comments, projects and lives are deleted right away. Circles you ran pass to their longest-standing member.
- Copies can remain in backups and logs for up to 30 days before they're gone.
- Reports are kept after they're resolved so we can spot repeat problems. If you delete your account, reports you sent no longer show who sent them.
Your choices and rights
- See and change: edit your profile, bio and settings any time in Settings.
- Delete: delete single posts, or your whole account from Settings → Delete account.
- Get a copy: email joseveras22@gmail.com and we'll send you a copy of your information within 30 days.
- Notifications: turn nudges, live alerts and comment alerts on or off in the app, or block notifications in your browser.
- Block and report: from anyone's profile, post, comment or live.
US state privacy rights. Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others), you may have the right to know, access, correct and delete your personal information, and to opt out of its sale or use for targeted ads. We don't sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. To make a request, email joseveras22@gmail.com; we'll verify it's you through your account email and respond within 45 days. We won't treat you differently for using these rights. If we turn down a request, you can ask us to reconsider by replying to our answer.
Children
Members under 18 get stricter content rules: they can't post profanity, religious or political topics, and they never see posts, comments or live chat from adults that contain them. Sexual content and hate speech aren't allowed for anyone.
You must be at least 13 to use Beat. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has an account, email joseveras22@gmail.com and we'll delete it.
Security
We use encrypted connections, store passwords only as secure hashes, keep private media behind short-lived links, and use database rules so people only see what they're allowed to. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password you don't use anywhere else.
Where your information is stored
Beat is run from the United States, and our providers may store and process information in the US and other countries.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For important changes, we'll tell you in the app before they take effect.
