The short version

You must be 13 or older. Members under 18 get stricter content rules.
Be kind, keep it clean, and only post what you have the right to share.
What you post stays yours. You let us show it to the people you chose.
We can remove content or accounts that break these rules.
Beat is free and provided as is, run by one person.

Agreeing to these terms

Beat is run by Jose Veras ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using Beat you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Beat.

Who can use Beat

You must be at least 13 years old.
If you're under 18, please go over these terms with a parent or guardian.
The birthday you give must be your real one. It decides which content rules apply to you, and it can't be changed later.
You can't use Beat if we've removed you before, or if the law where you live doesn't allow it.

Your account

Give a real email address and keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
One person per account. Don't pretend to be someone else, and don't pick a name or handle that suggests you're someone you aren't.
Tell us at joseveras22@gmail.com if you think someone else got into your account.

Content rules

Never allowed, for anyone

Sexual content or nudity, and anything sexual involving a minor (we report that to the authorities).
Hate speech or slurs about who people are, such as race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender or sexual orientation.
Bullying, harassment, threats, or encouraging anyone to hurt themselves or others.
Graphic gore or real-world violence. Game footage is fine.
Anything illegal: selling drugs or weapons, scams, or sharing someone's private information without permission.
Spam, fake accounts, or trying to break, overload or get around Beat's safety features.
Content you don't have the right to share, such as someone else's video, music or art passed off as yours.

Different by age

Under 18: no profanity, and no religious or political topics.
18 and over: profanity, religion and politics are allowed in posts, comments and live chat. Those posts are hidden from members under 18. Names, handles, bios, circle names, projects and live titles must stay clean for everyone.

Be honest about AI

Label your posts truthfully as made by you, AI-assisted, or AI-made. Don't use AI to make fake images of real people.

Lives

The same rules apply on live. You're responsible for what your camera and microphone pick up, including other people, who should know they're on a live. Lives aren't recorded, but viewers could record their own screen, so don't share anything you wouldn't post.

Tips

Tips are for members 18 and over, both to send and to get. Payments and payouts are handled by Stripe; to get tips you agree to Stripe's Connected Account Agreement, and Stripe checks who you are.
Tips are gifts. They don't buy anything, and in a VS they don't count as votes.
From each tip, Beat keeps 10% plus the card processing fee (about 2.9% + 30¢); the creator gets the rest. The Tip screen shows the exact amount before you pay.
Tips are final. If a tip was sent by mistake or without the card owner's permission, email joseveras22@gmail.com within 14 days. Refunds and card disputes are taken back from the creator who got the tip.
Creators are responsible for any taxes on what they earn. Stripe may send tax forms.

How we keep Beat safe

Text, photos and video frames are checked automatically before they're shared. Automatic checks can make mistakes in both directions. If something of yours is blocked by mistake, email joseveras22@gmail.com.
Anyone can report a post, comment, profile or live, and block anyone.
We may remove content, end a live, or suspend or delete an account that breaks these rules, with or without warning. For serious harm, such as anything involving a child's safety, we may contact the authorities.
We don't watch everything that's posted, and we're not responsible for what other members post.

What you post

You keep ownership of what you post.
You give us permission to store, show, resize and deliver it to the people you shared it with (your circles, or everyone if you post to Public), only to run Beat. This ends when you delete it or your account, except for copies in backups that clear within 30 days.
You promise you have the right to post it, and that it doesn't break these terms or anyone else's rights.

Copyright complaints

If you think something on Beat copies your work without permission, email joseveras22@gmail.com with a link to it, what work it copies, and how to reach you. We'll take it down if it infringes, and we may remove accounts that do it again and again.

Leaving Beat

You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account. Everything you posted is deleted with it. We may also close Beat or a feature, and we'll try to give you notice first.

No warranty

Beat is free and provided "as is". We work to keep it running and safe, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that content will never be lost. Keep your own copies of anything important.

Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for what other members say or do. Nothing here limits rights you have under laws that can't be waived.

Disagreements

If you have a problem with Beat, please email joseveras22@gmail.com first. Most things can be sorted out that way. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state where Jose Veras lives.

Changes

We may update these terms as Beat grows. We'll change the date at the top, and for important changes we'll tell you in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Beat after that, you agree to the new terms.
